Japan Dragons Boats Club Shines at SDBA Century Race in Jurong Lake

The Japan Dragons Boats Club (Singapore) made waves at the annual SDBA Century Race held on February 23, 2025, at Jurong Lake. This highly anticipated event is one of the curtain-raiser events for the dragon boat community, featuring local clubs competing in a thrilling 100-meter race.

The Japan Dragons Boats Club entered two teams in the Open Category: Japan A and Japan B. Preparation for the race began in January, demonstrating the team’s dedication and commitment.

Japan A, an all-female crew of eight members, delivered an exceptional performance that truly stood out. The team advanced to the Gold Semi-Final, achieving impressive times of 38 and 39 seconds in their events. Competing against established teams with either 10-member male crews or mixed-gender lineups, Japan A’s achievement was nothing short of remarkable. Their ability to not only keep pace but also excel in such a competitive field showcased their skill, determination, and teamwork. This performance is a testament to their hard work, discipline, and the spirit of excellence that drives the Japan Dragons Boats Club.

Japan B, an all-male crew of eight members, showed immense effort and resilience. Despite an unfortunate disqualification in their heat race, their determination and hard work did not go unnoticed. Such experiences are invaluable, serving as a reminder that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and improvement. The dedication and spirit demonstrated by Japan B highlight their potential and readiness to tackle future competitions. The team’s ability to stay focused and positive in the face of adversity is a testament to their strength and unity. We have no doubt that Japan B will come back stronger, using this experience as a stepping stone to even greater success.

The entire team remained focused on using this event as a preparatory stage for upcoming competitions in May, June, and July 2025. The experience and data gathered from this race will serve as valuable assets for future preparations.

Congratulations to both Japan A and Japan B for their outstanding efforts and dedication. The Japan Dragons Boats Club looks forward to continued success and growth in the upcoming events.
